Mobile Telephony

A Telecom Centre of Excellence (TCoE) has been established at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in collaboration with Aircel and the Department of Telecom.  Currently the Centre is engaged in developing products for Micropayment, Speech Encryption on Mobile Phones, Location Based Services, Survivability and Security of IT and Mobile Infrastructure and large scale anomaly detection.  The Centre requires the services of Mobile Telephony and Security Engineering professionals.

Qualification: BE / BTech in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, or ME / MTech or a PhD in the above areas. Experience in mobile development environment would be an essential qualification.

Background and experience:  One to two years of systems and applications programming experience in C, C++ and scripting using Python, PERL and TcI/Tk. Network programming and experience in protocol development is desirable.  Good knowledge of operating systems with a background in mobile and wireless engineering and network security will be an added advantage.

Job responsibilities:

Selected candidates are expected to work on IT/Mobile Telephony and Security related areas.  The work will include programming/scripting, development of compact codes under Symbian, Android, and MS operating systems and in devices such as Cell Phones and PDA, developing encryption algorithms, implementing them and conducting field trails, documenting the test processes and procedures and archiving the test runs and test results. In addition to the technical work, candidates are expected to help in documentation and perform administrative tasks relating to the project as required.

Salary:

The salary will be commensurate with the experience if the candidate is found to have the qualification we are looking for.

Selection process:

Candidates meeting the essential qualification and background will be required to take a written test.  Those successful in the test will be invited for a personal interview.  Selected candidates will be intimated by email with an offer.

These are purely temporary positions initially for a period of two years, but are likely to continue.
